Cruzada have released a video for Sabio, from Leyendas, which Art Gates Records puts out on 22 January.
The band are from Tarragona and formed in 1984, which is the fact that keeps mattering about them. They made a demo in 1986 and then the next thing in their discography is Titanes, from 2022, a gap of thirty six years. The new album has fourteen tracks and is built around looking back at that beginning rather than pretending it did not happen.
Spanish heavy metal of this vintage mostly did not survive into a second act. The bands that formed around 1984 in Catalonia were playing to an audience that had existed for about five years, and almost none of them held a line-up long enough to get past one record.
Sabio is the second thing out from the album, and the video is the label's own. Art Gates have spent the last few years rebuilding exactly this kind of catalogue, which is why a band with one demo and two albums in forty two years has a release date at all.
