Cult Of Luna have released Sadness Will Reign, with Gojira singer Joe Duplantier on it, two days before In The Shadow of Your Shadow arrives on their own RED CRK label.
It is the fourth song out, after the title track in June and A Way Back in August, and the first with anyone from outside the band on it. Duplantier is an unusual choice only on paper. Gojira built their reputation on the same thing this band did, which is heaviness arranged like architecture rather than aggression, and the two have been read as parallel cases for twenty years without ever sharing a recording.
He is not the only guest on the record. David Eugene Edwards, of 16 Horsepower and Wovenhand, sings on One More Day, which is a stranger and more interesting booking: a voice out of American gothic country on a Swedish post metal album.
Nine tracks, seventy one minutes, co-produced by Daniel Berglund and mixed by Magnus Lindberg, who has been the band's own drummer and the engineer on most of what they have made.
The album lands on 6 November.
