Darkness lead the bill for the sixth Charity Unleashed Festival, on 22 May 2027 at the Druckluft in Oberhausen.
Around the Dusseldorf thrash band, who have been going since 1984, the organisers have put Vulture on speed metal, Blizzen on heavy and speed, Grindpad on death and thrash, Old Ruins on black metal, Unhallowed Deliverance on technical death and Justify on thrash. Seven bands, one day, five sub genres.
Nobody involved is paid. Druckluft e.V. runs the whole thing on volunteers so that what comes in goes out again, and the money from the 2027 edition goes to the German Children's Hospice Services, who work with children with life shortening illnesses and with their families.
Festivals of this size usually survive on sponsorship and a headliner nobody can afford. This one has done six editions on the opposite arrangement, which is worth more than a line in a listings column.
