Dave Mustaine will mark the publication of his memoir "In My Darkest Hour" with a three-city book tour beginning on release day, 8 September 2026. The book, written with Joe Layden and published by Da Capo, an imprint of Grand Central Publishing, follows Mustaine's cancer diagnosis, his treatment and the recording sessions that produced Megadeth's "The Sick, The Dying... And The Dead!".
The first event is at the Kaufman Music Center in New York on 8 September, presented by the Strand bookstore and moderated by Rolling Stone's Kory Grow, with a fan Q&A. Tickets include a signed copy. Mustaine will then appear at Parkside Bookshop in Boston on 9 September and at a Barnes & Noble in Manassas, Virginia on 10 September; both are photo opportunities scheduled around Megadeth's dates on Iron Maiden's "Run For Your Lives" tour.
Mustaine is six years past the initial diagnosis. According to the publisher, the book describes how confronting his mortality brought him closer to his family and changed his approach to his music. It is his second memoir; "Mustaine: A Heavy Metal Memoir" reached the New York Times bestseller list in 2010.
Megadeth's self-titled final album recently debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, the band's highest chart debut, and the group is currently on a multi-year farewell tour.
