Dead End Finland have named their sixth album Carbon and dated it for 12 March 2027.
The first song from it is already out. "Mercy Of Fools" appeared ahead of the announcement, which is the order most campaigns now run in: the song first, the album afterwards, so the single has to stand on its own before anyone knows what it belongs to.
Six albums is a long run for a Finnish melodic death band that has never been one of the two or three names the rest of the world knows. The country produces more of this music than any market can absorb, and the groups that keep going do it by treating each record as a job rather than a moment.
Nothing has been said yet about a label, a tracklist or a second single. March is five months away, which leaves room for all three.
What the title promises is anybody's guess. One word, an element, no article: the kind of album name a band picks when the songs are about something specific enough that they do not want to say it on the cover.
