Deafheaven will support Interpol on eight United States dates in March 2027, opening at the Saenger Theatre in New Orleans on 16 March and closing at the Starland Ballroom in Sayreville on the 27th.
The pairing has a precedent. Interpol appear on "Incidental II" from Lonely People With Power, so this is two bands who have already worked out what they have in common rather than a promoter putting two names on a poster.
What they have in common is not obvious from a distance. One is a New York post punk band, the other came out of the American black metal underground, and the overlap is in texture: both build on guitar layers that blur rather than cut, and both have audiences who arrived through records rather than through scenes.
The rooms are theatres and halls rather than clubs, through San Antonio, Hidalgo, Dallas, Asheville, Washington and Philadelphia. Tickets go on sale on Friday 30 October.
