Death Angel have released The Never Was through Nuclear Blast, with a lyric visualizer, and Mark Osegueda has described exactly who it is about.

People who make every situation their own, is the short version. Conversations, other people's tragedies, other people's successes, all of it turned into material for self promotion. He says social media has handed that personality a much bigger stage than it used to have.

Two real people are behind it. He will not name them, and he suspects they are too wrapped up in themselves to recognise the song anyway, which is the joke inside the lyric.

His own description of it is the best line in the announcement: a thrash metal counterpart to Carly Simon's You're So Vain. That song has been a guessing game for fifty years for the same reason this one will not be.

The visualizer uses original drawings by Tamara Llenas of Aimed and Framed, with cover art by Mark Richards. It follows two standalone singles the band put out earlier, and an Australian run next year is already booked.
