Deliquesce have a new record out on 24 November through Vicious Instinct Records. (dis)harmony follows Saviour / Enslaver by barely a year, which for a band working this end of death metal is fast.
Two things about it are not settled. Kronos Mortus calls it an EP; Metal Archives files it as a full length. And Kronos Mortus lists four musicians, James Cooper on vocals, Adrian Cappelletti on guitars, Armando Wall on bass and Aaron Sheehan on drums, while Metal Archives has three and no drummer at all. Both are printed here rather than picked between.
What is settled is who made it. Cappelletti produced it with the band and also recorded and mixed it, Ayden Perry mastered it at Q4 Mastering, and Jon Zig did the artwork, which has been the visual signature of this corner of the underground for twenty years.
The band formed in Melbourne in 2019 and have moved from Engineered Frailty through Cursed With Malevolence to the last one, sharpening rather than changing. The label's own description of the new material is the useful part: technical detail and abrupt rhythmic shifts kept, but complexity refused as a goal, the riffs built to land rather than to be admired.
