Détresse have released Les Nuits Jaunes, the second song from Misères, which Vendetta Records puts out on 9 October. Vestal of Merrimack sings on it.
He also wrote the words, which is the unusual part. A guest vocal is a common enough favour in black metal; handing over the lyrics of what the band themselves call their harshest track is a different kind of trust. They say his frenetic voice and distinctive style complete the song's relentless intensity, and that the text he brought takes the listener into the darkest corners of misery where no light can get in.
The band are three and they are spread across an ocean: S.P. on guitars and lead vocals, C.S. on bass and L.S. on drums, working between Austria and Quebec. Metal Archives dates them to 2023, which makes Misères their second album in two years after Pessimismes.
Seven tracks, in three languages across their titles, which is what a band split between those two places ends up sounding like on paper.
