A record a decade in the making got exactly one first performance, and that night is now a release: Devin Townsend has put out Lexin, a clip from The Moth played live at De Oosterpoort in Groningen on 28 March 2025, ahead of the full concert arriving on CD and Blu-ray on 6 November.
The Moth came out on 29 May through InsideOutMusic and had sat in Townsend's head for years as what he has called his life's work. It became real about six years ago, when the head of the North Netherlands Orchestra and Choir approached him after an acoustic show in Amsterdam with an offer.
The release is in three parts. The album itself, then The Moth, The Afterlife, which gives the orchestra and choir the foreground, and The Moth, The War, the recording of that first live performance. The deluxe edition puts all three on CD with a Blu-ray carrying the full live film plus Dolby Atmos and high resolution stereo mixes, and there are also a two CD edition, a standard jewel case, a triple gatefold double LP and the digital release.
