Devin Townsend has released live footage of War Beyond Words, filmed in Groningen, and it is the first piece of a live album due on 6 November.
The Moth (The War, Live in Groningen) comes as a CD and Blu-ray set and as digital audio, six months after the studio record it documents. The Moth arrived in May, orchestral and enormous even by the standards of a man whose standard setting is enormous, and the obvious question since then has been whether any of it could be carried onto a stage.
This is the answer, and putting it out as a standalone album rather than a bonus disc is the second answer: the live version is being sold as its own record.
He has done this before, and the version of his catalogue that lives on stage has often been the one people return to. War Beyond Words is streaming now, with the rest following in a little over a week.
