Die Sünde have released the second song from Effemeridi, their first album, which arrives on 13 November through Time To Kill Records.
The song is about drowning, told as movement rather than as an event: people fighting an overwhelming sea, the struggle getting more chaotic, and then exhaustion, and then the water taking them. The band say it is probably the most direct and frantic thing they have written, and the broken time signatures are doing that work rather than the volume.
It sits third on the record, which is worth noting because a band putting its fastest song that early is building the album as a sequence rather than as a set of singles.
What they do is black metal used next to post-metal and post-hardcore instead of blended with them, so the harsh parts stop and something open begins rather than the two overlapping. The Padua collective reached this debut through two EPs, and Effemeridi is where the pieces are supposed to meet.
