Dissimulator have released "Neon Metropolis", the first song from Artifice Dissolves, their second album, which 20 Buck Spin will put out.
Claude Leduc, who sings, traces it to walking around Montreal after dark: "Inspired by reveries borne of nighttime strolls in Montreal, 'Neon Metropolis' depicts a flaneur meandering through an autonomous megacity. A hymn-like chorus underscores the mood of alienated despair while the song's urgent cadence mimics human and machine bustling to the restless beat of the cybernetic hive." The city he describes has no community, no history and no end point, and the people in it are either useful to the machine or invisible to it.
They formed in 2021 between Montreal and Longueuil and play technical death metal with the thrash left in. The demo Warped came first, then Lower Form Resistance in 2024, which is the record that put them on lists. The three of them have also played in Chthe'ilist, Atramentus, Beyond Creation and Incandescence, which is most of what Quebec has sent out in the last fifteen years.
