DragonForce have announced a tenth studio album, and for the first time in nine records they have given it their own name. DragonForce is out on 19 March 2027 through Napalm Records.
The single that opens the campaign is Hunger of the Beast, released with a live performance video. It was written for two voices at once, those of Alissa White-Gluz, who became the band's first frontwoman in the spring, and Alessio Garavello. Around them stand Herman Li, Sam Totman, Gee Anzalone, Alicia Vigil and a new addition, Billy Wilkins. Jens Bogren produced the record, which was tracked across the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada and Sweden, and Mark Riddick drew the cover.
“The approach of the tenth album is as important as the first one, because the way we look at music is we're making a piece of art that's going to be frozen in time,” Li told the announcement. “This is unlike any DragonForce album you've ever heard.” White-Gluz calls the pairing of speed and ferocity refreshing, and says it will be fun to play live.
A self-titled record twenty five years in is usually a statement that something has been reset. Here the reset is audible before a note of it has been heard: the band that spent two decades behind one voice now has two, and the first song out is built around that.
