Dragonland have released Rolling Waves, the third song out ahead of Prophecies, which Scarlet Records puts out on 23 October.
What the band describe is a record built as a survey rather than a statement. Fast power metal, full orchestration, ballads and fantasy storytelling, all inside the symphonic frame they have used since the beginning, with no single mood holding it together. That is an unusual thing to admit in advance, and it is the honest description of what a band does when it returns after a long gap: play everything it knows it can play.
Rolling Waves sits on the faster side of that. The melodies carry it and the riffing pushes, which is the combination this band has always been best at and the reason the Swedish power metal of the early 2000s still has an audience.
Two weeks out, with three songs already public, the album arrives to listeners who know what it sounds like. For a band pressing a limited run, that is the point.
