Dread Witch have released a video for "Altar", from their second album Cult, which arrives on 31 October.
Three labels are putting it out together: DHU Records, Bottomless Pit and Gateway Music. That is not a sign of a bidding war but of how doom records reach people now, with one label for the vinyl, one for a territory and one handling distribution, each covering a cost nobody wants alone.
The album runs eight songs, from "Born Again" through the title track to "Omen of Oblivion", and "Altar" sits fifth, with Sofia Schmidt singing on it. The band are from Aarhus and formed in 2022, which makes Tower of the Severed Serpent in 2023 a fast debut and this one a steady follow up.
Releasing it on 31 October is the obvious joke and the band have gone ahead with it anyway, which for a sludge record called Cult is at least consistent.
