The two records that made their name were written when nobody could leave the house, and it showed. Dream Unending return on 30 October with Certain Uncertainties, their third album, on 20 Buck Spin.
The record runs six tracks: Blinding Allure, Certain Uncertainties, Strained Sincerity, Rubato, I Carry Your Burden and Causal. Strained Sincerity is out as the first of them. Arthur Rizk, whose work with Eternal Champion and Sumerlands has shaped a good deal of what American heavy metal has sounded like this decade, handled the mix and the master, and Sumerlands vocalist Brendan Radigan contributes guest vocals.
The duo, split between the United States and Canada, made its own corner of death doom with Tide Turns Eternal in 2021 and Song of Salvation in 2022, letting guitarist Derrick Vella pull blues and jazz phrasing into music that is otherwise slow and very heavy. Not everyone followed them there. On the evidence of Strained Sincerity the new album does not go back for the ones who did not.
