Elder have postponed the remaining dates of their autumn tour. Bassist Jack Donovan is in hospital in Portland, Oregon, with a serious case of pneumonia, admitted last week after his condition worsened on the road. He had gone on playing while ill before it became impossible.
The band put out the decision on 24 September and did not dress it up. “Jack's struggle with a serious case of pneumonia is ongoing and he remains hospitalized in Portland,” they wrote. “Although he's getting the care he needs, his treatment is likely to continue for a number of days to weeks. As long as the situation remains critical, the thought of performing without him in any capacity is impossible.”
The run was shared with Blackwater Holylight and Blask, and the band thanked them for standing by Donovan through it. Ticketholders will be told about rescheduled dates, which the band warn may take a while to arrange, and refunds can be had through the point of sale. “We promise we'll come back stronger and make it up to you,” they said.
