Basque black metal project Elffor have premiered an excerpt of "Urkhal", a track from Roi des Forêts - Basoen Jauna, a split shared with Erroiak and Hyver. The record is due on 11 November.
The three acts built it around a single subject, the myth and the cult of the bear in the Pyrenees. What has been released so far is a taste rather than the whole piece: the premiere runs as an excerpt.
Elffor has been going since 1995, from Biscay, and is the work of one musician. The project sits between epic atmospheric black metal and the ambient and dungeon synth it started in, and its discography now runs to thirty one full lengths, a pace almost nobody in the style keeps. Two of them landed this year alone, The Silent Watchtower and Draghûrmorth, and the first of them, Into the Dark Forest..., goes back to 1998.
