Embertears have released Fall Of The Empire, the second song from Songs For The Rain God Pt. 2, which Bitume Prods put out on 20 November.

The album is one man's work. Tamas Geza Albert founded the project in Gyor in 2021, and he has spent the last two records on the Spanish conquest of Mesoamerica, told from the campaign led by Hernan Cortes and from the Aztec side at once. That is a harder structure than it sounds: the easy version picks a side and stays there.

Nine songs continue what a 2025 EP began, and before this he was working through Biblical material, so the method is consistent even when the subject moves.

Musically it sits between sludge, progressive and stoner metal, with the distortion opening out into cleaner guitar and the tempo changing often, including stretches in 5/4 and 6/4. Used badly, that is a way of showing off. Used here, it is how a narrative record keeps a listener from settling into one gear for forty minutes.
