Embertears will release Songs for the Rain God Pt. 2 on 20 November through Bitume Prods, digitally and as a CD digipack, and have put out "In the Eye of the Hurricane" with a video ahead of it.
The record retells the conquest of Mesoamerica, and the point of it is that Hernán Cortés and the Spanish are not the only ones narrating: the Aztec Empire gets its own side of the account. Nine songs carry it, built out of sludge, progressive metal and stoner rock, with distorted riffs set against clean melodic passages and guitar work that gets technical when the story needs it to.
It is one person's project, from Győr in north western Hungary, going since 2021, with The Flood in 2022 and Red Chapter in 2024 behind it.
