Embrace of Souls have released a live video for "The Plague", the third track on The Battle Of The Dead, which Rockshots Records put out on 22 May.
The song carries a good deal of the album's story, which is the reason a band five months past release would go back to it rather than to the obvious single. Taking it from a stage rather than a studio clip is the other half of that choice: the record is built as a narrative, and the live version is the band showing the narrative survives a room.
They formed in 2019 and have moved quickly since, with three albums already and Forever Part of Me only two years behind this one. Rockshots have had them throughout.
Epic power metal from Italy is a crowded field, and the band's answer to it is scale rather than speed: long songs, choral arrangements, and a story told across a full album rather than in single verses.
