Evocation are active again after several years of silence, with four of the five people who started them in 1991 back in the same room.
The returning pair are the brothers Vesa Kenttakumpu on guitars and Janne K. Boden on drums. They join Marko Palmen on guitars, Thomas Josefsson on vocals and Gustaf Jorde on bass, and the band say they are working on new music.
Thirty five years separate that rehearsal room from the one in Boras where the band began, and the gap in the middle is long enough to be two careers. They split in the nineties without an album, came back in 2004 and made five records, then went quiet after The Shadow Archetype in 2017.
Nothing has been said about a label or a date. What has been said is the part that matters to anyone who followed the Swedish death metal revival of the late 2000s: the line-up on this one is the original one, not a name carried forward by a single survivor.
