Feline Melinda have released Duets II, an EP of five songs from across their catalogue, each one given a second voice. Doris Albenberger sings opposite Rob Irbiz on all of it, as she did on the first Duets in 2019.
Morning Dew is the one they have filmed. It first appeared in 2008 on the self titled album and comes back cut down to just over two minutes, closer to a radio edit than a remake. The lyric sets the two singers against each other on purpose, one the night and one the day, and ends on the line about living your life free.
More Than Ever was re-recorded the same way. Seventh Heaven, Seven Sins Seven Lies and Before The Dawn keep their old recordings and get new vocal arrangements, which is the cheaper half of the exercise and the half that usually tells you whether the idea works.
Bands this far into a career reissue. Rewriting the vocal lines of five of your own songs is a different decision, and it only pays if the melodies were the point in the first place.
The band formed in Bolzano in 1987. The EP is digital through Diotima Records and on a limited CD from the band.
