Fires in the Distance are confirmed for 70000 Tons of Metal 2027. The cruise sails from Miami to Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic and back from 14 to 18 January aboard Royal Caribbean's Freedom of the Seas, and carries 3000 passengers.
The organisers announced the band in the language they use for everything. “Sailors, please welcome the ominous Harbingers of Doom (Metal), Fires in the Distance, on board 70000 Tons Of Metal 2027,” they wrote. The Connecticut band play melodic doom and death metal and released Circadian Promise this year through Prosthetic Records, their third album after Echoes from Deep November and Air Not Meant for Us.
Thirty of the sixty bands are now public. Alongside them are Arch Enemy, Exodus, Evergrey, Hammerfall, Moonspell, Obscura, Naglfar, Melechesh, Origin, Evoken, Enforcer, Warbringer, Firtan and Rhapsody, whose slot is billed as their final shows. Wolfheart will give the world live premiere of their forthcoming album on board, with footage going into a music video. “This time we are bringing something special with us: the world live premiere of our forthcoming album,” said Tuomas Saukkonen, who noted it is the band's third time on the ship.
