Firtan have released a video for "Kalika's Tongue", the third song from Helios, which AOP Records puts out on 2 October. It follows "The Hierophant Way" in July, which features James Dorton of Ne Obliviscaris, and "Ascension" in August.
The album is named after the sun, and the label describes it as a path to enlightenment taken "not as escape, but as conquest". Musically it sets black metal against the weight of death metal, with acoustic and electric violin, acoustic instruments, ritual chants and analogue synthesizers around the riffs.
The new song takes its imagery from the Kali Yuga, the age of strife in Hindu cosmology, and its lyric lists the vices of that age.
The video was filmed and produced by Oliver König of Mbience Visuals, with Klara Bachmair on second camera. Markus Stock mixed and mastered the music at Klangschmiede Studio E.
Helios runs twelve tracks: "Himsa", "Kalika's Tongue", "Ambrosia", "Solis Currus", "Ascension", "Wide Open Eye", "Helios", "The Form Revealed", "Revealing Prana", "The Hierophant Way", "Shadows Of A Dawn Unborn" and a cover of Bathory's "Man Of Iron".
Firtan come from Lörrach and formed in 2010. Their previous album was Marter, released on AOP Records in 2022.
