Floor Jansen has a second solo album coming on 15 January 2027. Hytress goes out through REVAMP Music and Warner Music, and follows Paragon, the 2023 debut that has since gathered close to 150 million streams.
Speaking to Janne Vuorela of the Finnish site Imperiumi, in a transcription published by Blabbermouth, she described the brief for the new one as a change of direction rather than a continuation. "It is more we had the ambition to make the album heavier," she said, noting that with her band not playing live at the moment there was no risk of the two sets of shows colliding. "Plus, that desire to really, yeah, still get back to my heavier roots came up. So the search started to find a heavier, more metal sound that is 100% me, but not like NIGHTWISH."
She was explicit about why not. "Not because I don't want to, but just because I'm already doing it, and I don't wanna copy-paste something written by Tuomas. I mean, it's as good as it gets, so it makes no sense for me to kind of try and do the same thing."
On Paragon the question had been close to the opposite one. "So how do I sound without this huge bombast, without all of that happening, without even metal? Can it be dramatic and bombastic, but not metal?" she said of the first album. She has already said she is not leaving Nightwish over any of this.
