Foreshadow formed in Montreal in 1990, made a demo in 1991 that they decided sounded too poor to release, and have spent thirty five years not being a band. The demo is now an EP. Here Down On Earth comes out on 2 October and This Harvest That You've Sown is out ahead of it with a lyric video, with Quebec shows to follow.
It is a complete re-recording, in the original running order. One ballad was dropped, which Patrick Loisel judged too soft and too much work to go back to. The cover goes back to the 1991 artwork as well, the one with the violence and the pollution and the intolerance on it.
Loisel teaches history, and his reading of why this works now is not a sentimental one. “Things are so similar now that I feel like I am 21 again,” he says. “These general patterns keep repeating themselves regardless of whether we are a primitive or technological society. This album re-emerging now is like the best timing ever.”
The four of them have not been idle in the meantime: Loisel plays in Augury, Kurt Clifford in Vantablack Warship, Pierre Pitre in Arseniq33 and Patrick Knup in Clearwater Deathblow. The only album Foreshadow ever finished, Do We Disturb?, came out in 1996.
