Mad Max have released a video for Dulces Falsos alongside their album Stories of Destiny, and the song is the first the band have ever recorded with a Spanish lyric.
It is not a new song. Dulces Falsos is their own Piece Of Candy rebuilt, with a new text written by Andreas Baesler and sung in Spanish. Juergen Breforth, who has led the band from Muenster since 1981, says the point was to thank the audience in Latin America that stayed with them, and he names Colombia and Mexico in particular, where a Mad Max comic found its readership. He adds that the Spanish vocal gives the song more power, presence and raw energy, and that several journalists have heard something of Heroes del Silencio in it.
Forty five years is a long time to go before trying a second language, and a band that reaches that mark usually stops experimenting rather than starts. Piece Of Candy sits fifth on the record, between Far Behind and Til The End Of Time, on a ten track album that opens with Silver, the single that came before it.
Metal Archives files the band as heavy metal and hard rock, which is the pair of labels they have carried since Heavy Metal, their 1982 debut. Their first album, Heavy Metal, came out in 1982, and Metal Archives counts seventeen full-length rows in all, this one included.
