Funeralium have finished recording their fifth album. It follows Decrepit from 2021 and is planned for early 2027, and that is the whole announcement: no title, no label statement, no song.
Gaps of that length are normal here. This band have been going since 2003 and have four albums behind them, which works out at roughly one every five years, and the records themselves are built on the same arithmetic: songs that take twenty minutes to arrive where a faster band would be in thirty seconds.
Weird Truth Productions have carried the last of them, a Japanese label that has spent two decades on funeral doom and almost nothing else. If the new one goes out through anybody, it will probably be them.
Early 2027 is a season rather than a date, and from this band it is more precision than usual. The recording being done at all is the news.
