Gaerea have released Nomad, and the band frame it as the end of a sequence. Water, fire and darkness were the last three, and this one goes after light, in a frozen landscape.

The figure the song is named for is not a traveller in the romantic sense. The band describe a man who keeps moving at a steady pace precisely so that he never has to meet himself, with no destination in it at all. That is a harder idea than most black metal bands bother with and it explains why this group have an audience well outside the genre.

It follows Shallow, which they released four separate ways, including an acoustic version with the cellist Jo Quail.

Taking one song and reinterpreting it through other people's disciplines, then following it with a piece about refusing to stand still, reads like a band working out loud rather than promoting a record.

They remain on Century Media.
