A bonus track usually means the one nobody plays, and Gargant have made theirs the single: Burning Crusader, the extra song on both physical editions of Dead Night Defiance, has a video, and the Brazilian band's debut album is now out on CD and limited coloured vinyl through Fireflash Records.
The song brings another character into the album's dark fantasy world, a warrior consumed by his crusade who chases vengeance through ruins and towards the gates of hell. It is faster and harder than most of the record, with thrash worked into the heavy and power metal the band build on. The video mixes live footage with scenes shot for it, which is the band's usual method of tying the stage to the story.
The physical editions carry that further. The CD holds a twenty page booklet of images and illustrations, and the limited marbled vinyl comes with an insert and a signed card, with bundles through Bandcamp. The band draw openly on comics, cinema, painting, architecture and literature, and treat the songs, the videos and the artwork as parts of one narrative. The album was recorded at Tellus Studio in Rio de Janeiro.
