Gloryhammer have put out "Starfighters of Leuchars", another song from Space 1993: Wrath of Kor-Virliath, which arrives on Friday. In it their hero Angus McFife V acquires a squadron of ace pilots, the ones already painted onto the album sleeve.

Taking a minor character off the artwork and giving him a song is the sort of thing this band does on purpose. The story has been running across five albums now and the records are built so that the sleeve, the lyrics and the track order all carry the same plot, which is why the audience treats a new single as a chapter rather than a taster.

Musically it is an orchestral piece, which is the register the band reach for when the plot needs a cavalry arriving. Leuchars, for the record, is a real airbase in Scotland, and naming a squadron of space pilots after it is the joke running under the whole series.

Napalm Records put the album out on 16 October. It is the fifth.
