Goblin Cock have a record out tomorrow. Traumanaut arrives on 6 October through Joyful Noise Recordings, and it is the band's fifth album and the first since Roses on the Piano in 2019.
Ten tracks. Flowers Grow, A Tracing of Angels, On the Night You Left, Fifth Reich Bio-Dome, Remains, Fatigue Fatigue, Open Carry Dipshit, Blame the Roses, Tenter, and then Two Swords, which is a cover of The Beat, the English two tone band. A doom group from San Diego closing an album with a ska song is exactly the kind of joke this band has been making since 2005, and the joke is usually the only light thing about the record.
Everyone in it works under a pseudonym and has from the start: Lord Phallus on vocals and guitars, Lick Myheart on guitars, Tinnitus Island on bass, The Reg on drums and Loki Sinjuggler on keyboards. Metal Archives files the band as stoner metal and alternative rock and gives its themes as nonsense, humour and abstract, which is the sort of entry that only exists because somebody had to fill the field in.
Four records came before: Bagged and Boarded in 2005, Come with Me If You Want to Live! in 2009, Necronomidonkeykongimicon in 2016 and Roses on the Piano in 2019. The gaps have been getting longer and nothing suggests that is accidental.
