Gojira will open for System Of A Down at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena on 10 June, a third night added days after the second.
The first two, on 5 and 6 June, go to Pierce The Veil. Splitting the support between two bands across three nights in the same stadium is unusual, and it reads as a way of selling the third date to an audience that has already bought tickets for the first two. Tickets go on sale on 26 October.
The wider run is already large. Faith No More open the stadium shows outside the United States: Rio de Janeiro at the Maracana on 15 January, then Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Wellington through to 7 February. Before any of it, the headliners play Sick New World Texas in Fort Worth on 24 October.
For the French band this is the second time in two years they have been handed a stadium of this size without headlining it, which is roughly where a band of their standing sits in the American market: too big for theatres, not quite a stadium name of their own.
