Golgothan Remains will release Born From Darkness Absolute on 20 November through Dark Descent Records, and have put out "An Emanation of Exorcism" from it.
Seven songs, on CD, vinyl and digital, mixed and mastered by Greg Chandler at Priory Recording Studios. That last detail tells you what the record is going to sound like before you hear a note of it: Chandler works in weight and room rather than in clarity, and a Sydney band who already write in caverns went looking for exactly that.
It is their third album, after Perverse Offerings to the Void in 2018 and Adorned in Ruin in 2022, with the EP Bearer of Light, Matriarch of Death in between. Eleven years from forming to a third full length is a steady rather than a prolific rate, and the gap has not cost them a label.
Dark Descent have carried this kind of Australian death metal for years, which is how a band from Sydney ends up with a record in American shops on the day it comes out.
