Graviton have released Dissent Into Madness, the first song from Graviton, the self titled second album the New England band release on 13 November through Skepsis Recordings. It is their first record for the label and only their second full length in eleven years.
Apollo Medaglia, who plays drums and writes the words, says the song came out of a basement during the pandemic, watching the world tear itself apart in real time from a phone screen. That is a familiar starting point by now, and what keeps it from being a cliche is that the band did not rush the result into the world while the feeling was fresh.
The eight tracks were recorded across 2024, drums and re amping at Westfall Recording Company in Farmingdale and the rest at The Whiskey Palace, engineered by Ray Marte with Medaglia and Justin Licht, and mastered by Marte. Ryan T. Hancock did the cover.
Three releases since 2015 and a long run of shows around New England have pushed the band from ordinary thrash towards something faster and more technical, with Testament and Exodus on one side and Gojira and Strapping Young Lad on the other. The album comes on vinyl, CD and cassette, with a limited gold pressing already on pre order.
