Grymheart have put out "Demon Of Dreams", the second song from Wake Not The Beast, which Scarlet Records release on 20 November. It is about the Alp, the creature Germanic folklore blames for nightmares and for waking up unable to move.

Sleep paralysis has a monster in almost every folklore, and the Alp is the one that sits on the chest. Choosing it rather than another dragon is the better instinct for a folk metal band, because everyone who has had the experience recognises the description, which no amount of mythology about swords manages.

The song is also slower than they usually write. A central guitar theme carries it and the chorus is built to be sung rather than kept up with, and for a band whose reputation rests on pace that is the risk on the record.

It follows the 2023 debut, and Gyula Havancsak did the artwork, which for a Hungarian metal album is close to a given by now.
