Hail Conjurer release Abyss & Ekstasis today. It is the tenth full-length from the Finnish one man black metal project, which has been running since 2017 and put out Order of Disgrace only last year.
Six songs, and no two of them the same size. Unheimlich opens at three minutes and thirteen seconds, Maan kiima lasts two and a half, and Golden Pages of Contempt runs thirteen minutes and thirty three seconds before Staring at the Sun closes the record in under four. Between them sit Ecstasy of Flesh at nine minutes and Nocturnal Ardour at just under seven.
The album was recorded between 29 December 2025 and 3 February 2026, mastered by Chris Fielding and given its cover by Arto Kuronen. Crypt of the Wizard puts out the digital edition and shares the vinyl with Into Endless Chaos Records.
The stated subject is flesh, abyssal being, the unknown, nocturnal rapture and lust, dualistic illusions, and the myths of sin and the profane. Which is a long way of saying the tenth album points where the other nine pointed, and that nobody involved has seen a reason to turn.
