Harakiri For The Sky have a live film out through AOP Records, shot at the Theater Akzent in Vienna, of Funeral Dreams.
The song is the second track on III: Trauma, which the same label released on 22 July 2016 and which remains the album most people who follow this band name first. It is ten years old and it is the one they have taken into a theatre.
The room is the detail. The Theater Akzent is a seated house in the fourth district, built for plays and recitals, and almost nothing about Austrian black metal is designed for an audience that stays in its chairs. This band has always been closer to that setting than most of its neighbours, because the songs are long, the tempos are more post rock than blast beat, and the melodies do the work that aggression does elsewhere.
Vienna and Salzburg are where the two founders have worked since 2011, and eight albums have come out of it, the last being Scorched Earth in 2025.
A live recording of an old song is usually a holding action between records. This one is also an argument about where the music belongs.
