Harpyie are finishing. Nach uns die Sintflut, out on 11 December through Metalville, is a farewell album, and "Unsere Lieder" is the first song from it.

The title translates roughly as after us, the flood, which is the German form of a phrase about not caring what happens once you are gone. For a band ending on purpose rather than falling apart, naming the last record that is either a joke or a statement, and the song that introduces it suggests they mean it as both.

"When the ship goes down, the band carries on playing," is how the announcement puts it. "Unsere Lieder" means our songs, and the band describe it as among the most personal things they have written, which is the obvious thing for a farewell single to be and in this case the honest one.

They have spent more than fifteen years in the German medieval and folk metal circuit, a scene that runs on festivals rather than on records. December gives them a last album and, presumably, a last summer of them.
