Heimdalls Wacht release Sphärenschänder tomorrow through Talheim Records, and it is the first part of something called Echoes of an Old Belief.

Ten tracks, opening on Urgrund and closing on Forlorn, with a Widukind theme sitting near the end. Widukind led the Saxons against Charlemagne, converted under duress, and has been claimed by every German movement with an interest in the pre-Christian past since. A band from Ahlen writing about him is a band writing about its own ground rather than borrowed mythology.

That has been the method since 2004. Armillus has kept this project on Westphalian history and landscape, in German, and the parts of it that are sung in dialect are not there to be exotic.

Runes to Heal, Weapons to Cure came out ahead of the album and is the best way in. A second part is implied by the title, and nothing has been said about when it arrives.
