Helgrind have signed to Time To Kill Records, who will put out Shadows of Souls, an album of ten tracks.
Nothing else has been set. No release date, no first song, no artwork, and the label says the details are coming in the weeks ahead. Announcing a signing before there is anything to hear is a particular kind of move, and it usually means the record is finished and the campaign is not.
The band formed in London in 2000, at the point where thrash metal had lost whatever mainstream footing it once had, and they built the following they have through touring rather than through a label. The debut, Denial, came out in 2005, and four albums and a long run of shorter releases have followed it.
Time To Kill is an Italian label with a roster that leans on exactly this sort of band: long serving, well travelled, never signed to anything large. For a group that has spent twenty six years working the British and European underground, a label with distribution is the part that was missing, and it arrives at the fifth album rather than the first.
