Huntsmen are finished. The band put out the announcement themselves and were specific about one thing: the decision was mutual, made after what they called much reflection, to bring their time together as a band to a close.
The rest of the statement is the kind that does not usually survive a real falling out. They said they were proud of the music they made, the stages they shared and the memories they built together, and that they had reached the point where each of them needed to step away towards new personal journeys. Then they thanked everyone who bought vinyl, streamed a track, came to a show or bought a shirt, and said that energy meant everything.
They were a Chicago band and they were hard to place, which is probably why they never got as large as the records deserved: sludge and doom in the riffs, post metal in the structures, and a vocal approach with more Americana in it than either genre is used to. Post War in 2014, The Colonel in 2016, then American Scrap in 2018, Mandala of Fear in 2020, the The Dying Pines EP in 2022 and The Dry Land in 2024, which turns out to have been the last one.
