Immortal will release Complete Discography 1992 to 2023 on 29 January 2027, a vinyl box that takes in every studio album the band have made plus one live record. Pre-orders are open through a site built for the set.
The eleven releases run chronologically: Diabolical Fullmoon Mysticism (1992), Pure Holocaust (1993), Battles in the North (1995), Blizzard Beasts (1997), At the Heart of Winter (1999), Damned in Black (2000), Sons of Northern Darkness (2002), All Shall Fall (2009), The Seventh Date of Blashyrkh Live (2010), Northern Chaos Gods (2018) and War Against All (2023). Ten studio albums, one live album, all of them gatefold, with Sons of Northern Darkness and the live record spread across two discs each.
What the running order shows is a band that changed in public. The first four records are the cold, fast, narrow ones. At the Heart of Winter keeps the black metal but brings in heavy metal riffing and longer structures, and Damned in Black and Sons of Northern Darkness carry that further. The live album documents the 2007 Wacken Open Air set. The last two are the ones with Demonaz on vocals.
Thirty one years in one box is a lot of vinyl to ask for at once, and the sequencing is the argument for it: played in order, the gap between 1992 and 1999 is the interesting part.
