In Obscurity Revealed have put out "Consecrated by Rot", the second preview of Caustic Maelstrom, the album Personal Records releases on 9 October.
The song opens on a stomp and then gives way to dual guitars, cavernous vocals and drums that hit like something underground collapsing. As it accelerates the riffs twist and swarm and the leads dive through them, and the production keeps enough clarity for the detail to survive the filth. No Clean Singing had the premiere.
The quartet formed in Mexico City in 2014 and have not moved since: a demo in 2015, the EP Grim Fumes of Revelation in 2016, the album Glorious Impurity in 2018, a split with Infesticide in 2021 and another demo in 2023. Eight years between albums, and nothing in the new one suggests they spent them looking for a different direction.
