Inquinamentum will release Abyssal on 30 October, nine tracks, with no label involved.

That is the whole shape of this band. Five albums behind them and a sixth arriving, all of it put out by the band themselves, which in English black metal is less a statement than a practical arrangement: the audience for it is small, reachable and already looking.

Self releasing at this rate also means nobody sets the schedule. A record announced ten days before it appears is not a campaign, and there is no run of singles ahead of it.

What the band play is black metal in the older sense, the kind that treats atmosphere as something produced by the playing rather than added on top of it, and six releases in makes them one of the more durable names working that seam in the United Kingdom. Nine tracks is also a long record by the standards of a band with nobody to answer to about running time.
