Killswitch Engage frontman Jesse Leach told Baby Huey of the San Francisco station 107.7 The Bone, at the Aftershock festival in Sacramento, that the festival was "the very last show for us for a long time in the States. We're heading over to New Zealand and Australia. And then the only thing we're looking at now is doing some festivals next year in Europe. But other than that, there's no solid plan. So the talk has begun of, like, should we start writing again? So, we'll see."
Asked where a follow-up to last year's This Consequence might go, he gave the answer and then took it back apart. "I'm pushing for faster and heavier and harder, for fun. But you can't really force that with this band. I can have my opinion what I'd like, but there's a natural magic that happens when those guys start writing music. So I can have an idea in mind, but when I hear sonically what they're giving me, I'm usually so inspired by that sound that I'll write according to what it makes me feel." And then: "But in the back of my mind, I'm, like, let's go hard and heavy."
That is a singer describing his own limited say in a band where four other people write the music and he responds to it. He also said in June that four songs recorded during the This Consequence sessions were left off, one of them already reissued quietly on a charity compilation, and that the band had talked about putting out EPs instead of albums. Blabbermouth transcribed the interview.
