Jonne Jarvela, who fronts Korpiklaani, releases Harjumaa on 18 December, the third album under his own name.

He told Chaoszine how the title track came about, and it is the least mystical account of songwriting anybody gave this week. It started on an acoustic guitar, he was working out what the words should be about, he looked out of the window and saw a ridge covered in pine trees, so he wrote about the ridge.

The song itself he describes as melancholic but hopeful, about a person being like a tree that holds on through its roots, with a chorus that says the sun always comes back out from behind the clouds.

The band he has put around it is not a side project line-up. Kartsy Hatakka of Waltari plays bass, Sami Perttula brings his accordion across from Korpiklaani, and John Ryan of Cruachan is on violin, as he was on the earlier solo records.

Those were Jonne in 2014 and Kallohonka in 2017, so nine years have passed since the last one.
