Katatonia will tour Europe between 31 March and 17 April 2027, opening in Hannover and finishing in Lund, on a run they have called Waking State Of Europe.
It carries Nightmares as Extensions of the Waking State, the album Napalm Records released last year, and the title of the tour is lifted straight out of it. Ending in Lund rather than Stockholm is the detail worth noting: a Swedish band closing a European tour in a university town of ninety thousand, not in the capital.
Bonnie Trash open, which is an unusual booking and a deliberate one. The Canadian pair play post punk built on dread rather than volume, and putting them in front of this audience says more about where Katatonia think their own music sits than any press release would. A second guest is promised and not yet named.
Getting a full European run on the calendar matters more for this band than for most. They lost a guitarist to a visa office twice this year, on tours outside Europe, which is the kind of thing that does not happen inside it.
